Just Start

Hey Family!!!!

It’s officially summer and it feels like it here in California for sure. We’re in the heat and our state finally and safely opened up on June 15th. Whew, chile, this past year was a test!

We’ve had a rough past year and I’ve seen that pandemic fog is real. Sometimes you’re overwhelmed and even the smallest tasks can become very difficult to start. With all of this new and sustained stress, we can unfortunately get into a rut.

This rut can also manifest in our homes. Sometimes little tasks like doing the laundry (folding clothes dread anyone!!??!!) or minor home fixes can get overwhelming as well. Or, you start looking at EVERYTHING wrong and you don’t know where to be begin due to being overwhelmed. Well, I recently learned the secret…

Just start.

One room at a time.

Instead of going crazy all over the place, and completing nothing, just do one room at a time. Just do one task at a time. Make a weekend to tackle one thing, only one. DON'T ADD ANYTHING ELSE.

This theory was at first hard for me because I’m a multitasker and my brain is sometimes like “ooh squirrel” and gets distracted.

But that satisfaction of finishing one room and completing one item off the list, gives you the awesome motivation to finish the other items too.

So, start small, or start with just one room.

If you have a smaller budget, do a single bedroom or office refresh. Swap out those items that are a little mismatched. Or get rid of items you were gifted on that “Free .99 - hand-me-down special." Buy new items that really fit your style and work in your new space. I always say splurge on the larger staple items, and save on the smaller decor items. You would be AMAZED at what a couple of new pillows, throw blanket and trinkets can do.

If you have a big budget, get that big kitchen or primary bathroom out of the way. Those two spaces actually bring the most equity back into your home. Return on investment is AMAZING in kitchen and bathrooms.

The key is to start. And start with one room at a time. Maybe it’s a fresh coat of paint or maybe it’s new bedding. If you need help starting, I would be HONORED to assist and get the process going!

Make Everyday Beautiful,

Tiana
