Spring Cleaning 🧼🧽

Hey Family! How are we doing after losing an hour??!

I know the struggle bus can be real on that Monday after Daylight Savings Time begins.

Well, I’m a person who always likes to look at the bright side of things, and that means we’re closer to more sun, longer days and warmer weather (born and raised California girl loading!!)🌞 .

Since we’re getting ready for spring let’s talk spring cleaning.

Delight Design Firm Modern Bathroom

As a designer, I’m ALL about organization and making sure your home gets used to its full potential. In order to do that, ensure you have an organized home and flow with the changing seasons. We could all use a pick me up in this crazy world right now, so let’s put that to use and have a beautiful warm weather ready home!

Here’s 10 spring cleaning tips to get you started:

1. Windows

Definitely use your preferred glass cleaner and get to scrubbing the frames and the panes. If you’re feeling sexy, get a power washer and clean the outside of the windows as well. Do this in order to see the sunshine and blue skies.

2. Baseboards + Trim

You can’t have clean walls yet dirty bases!! That doesn’t make any sense. To have crown molding or baseboards really pop, they need to be clean. You can use an all-purpose cleaner for the baseboards and trim. If you’re feeling sexy (again) you can even paint trim to give a room a fresh new take.

3. Rugs + Placemats

If you’re a busy mom like me, always read the labels and see if your mudroom, entryway and hall rugs are machine washable. Throw those thangs (yes, thangs) in the washer and dryer for a fresh take for a new season. If your placemats have been abused, perfect time to buy some new ones that will give dining an updated look.

4. Doors + Doorknobs

With all this ‘Rona, please clean your knobs and doors. Even though this pandemic is seemingly coming to a close, don’t take anything for granted and ensure the germs, grime and dirt are off your doors. You can use an all-purpose cleaner for knobs, and a wood-base cleaner for most doors.

5. Ceiling Fans

Please don’t neglect your ceiling fans and other ceiling fixtures. Get an eco-friendly duster and get to dusting. Also, replace any bulbs that are out and even consider getting new lamp shades for a new look. If we’re getting to warmer weather, those ceiling fans will be put into use.

6. Microwaves + Ovens

I clean out my microwave pretty regularly, however this serves as a reminder to definitely do it for spring cleaning. Since gas is so expensive right now, have a home movie night with some microwave popcorn from your clean microwave. You can use an approved all-purpose cleaner for the interior of the microwave and a stainless steel or other needed cleaner for your exterior. For the oven, make sure you read/know its factory settings for an appropriate clean. Block off some time to do this because a thorough oven clean could take awhile.

7. Cabinets

Don’t neglect the interior or exterior of your cabinets. Look to see if you’re not using any of the items on the inside and either eco-friendly dispose of or donate the unused items. For exteriors, clean the grooves and trims with either an all-purpose cleaner, or wood cleaner depending on your cabinet material.

8. Invest in Drawer Organizers

With any cabinet interior cleaning, it’s probably due time to organize drawers. Invest in drawer organizers, and throw out any old pens, coupons, and all of the things you just don’t have use for that have piled in your drawers. This is a good time to reassess what’s really necessary for you and your home.

9. Bedding

Since we’re heading towards warmer weather, now is a perfect time to prepare for your lighter bedding. For a quick room refresh, change a bedspread or buy pillow covers to reflect the brighter and longer days ahead. If you have some extra money, you can also invest in a new bedding set as well. Ensure you also clean any matress pads and long lasting bedding material.

10. Fresh Flowers

Even though I don’t have a green thumb, I’m a sucker for fresh flowers and plants in the spring time. Purchase the flowers or plants that speak to you so you can truly have an updated look. In my next “22 for 22,” I’ll be showing you how to make some beautiful floral arrangements that will be a

nice added touch to any space. I’ll see you then!😉

Happy Spring Cleaning!

Make Everyday Beautiful,

Tiana
