Welcome to “The First & The Fourteenth”

This is the start of my design blog where I give you some special design tips as well as my journey of starting this business on every first and fourteenth day of each month.
Soooo...lets go...
Blog 1: Measure
Singing: “ It’s been a long time, we shouldn’t of left you...”
I know it’s been a loooong time since my last post. Cause guess what? A sistah has been BUSY!
God has truly blessed me with some wonderful clients thus far, which encompass various remodeling and new design projects.
In the midst of all of my multiple design projects (yes multiple - won’t He do it?!), helping my daughter with virtual school, making sure my 2 year old doesn’t kill himself doing park-core in the house, three meal a day cheffing it, and my full time 9-5, I am in the midst of a renovation at my own home. To say it’s been busy, is an understatement.
However, there’s been such a peace around everything and I really see God moving in all of this. I’m honored that He’s using me in this creative space and that my beautiful clients are entrusting me with their homes. I will start adding some of the beautiful photos (with their permission of course) and just sharing the design process, because that’s truly what it is - a process.
With the process, let me tell you a huge tip: YOU HAVE TO MEASURE!!!

What do I mean? A big no-no is just buying pieces without measuring your space. Yes, you can fall in love with a piece you see online or in a store, but without knowing the dimensions and needs of the space, that beautiful piece can still look out of a place.
Have you measured the wall that you’ll put it on? Have you measured its height, width and depth? Is it going to stick out too much, or is it going to look minute in your space? Is it going to make other items diminutive, or how about, will it even fit? These are the questions you should ask yourself before you make an impulse purchase and later have buyers’ remorse.
Remember, design is a marriage, that can be long lasting and beautiful. Don’t let it be a one-night stand (literally and figuratively - lol).
Vision it, plan it and measure it.
Until the Fourteenth...
Make Everyday Beautiful!

Great tip!!! Thank you!
