Write The Vision!

Happy New Year!!!! Wow, 2020 was a HOT MESS! However, it taught us some invaluable lessons in which I pray we never forget.

Many circles start their new year with a vision board. This is a board where you can write and stick items to a piece of cardboard or paper that you would like to manifest in the coming year. Well, what if I tell you you should have a design vision board? Read on to learn more about it.

Many designers (including this one) will give their clients what’s called a mood or design board. In many instances, people wonder what a designer is for, but one of the main reasons you need a designer is to get out all those ideas into one place and ensure they are cohesive. A lot of people LOVE model home tours, but don't realize those homes are superbly planned out, and designed intentionally to ensure the plan comes together.

You can do the same for your home, no matter how big or small. Write out the items you need and also the items or designs you’d love to have. You can do this on paper, or PowerPoint, cardboard, Pinterest space or any visual representation that produces what you’re going for. This will thoroughly help the designer with your style as well as learn what you’re trying to achieve.

In many instances, houses are not cohesive because we buy items one at a time based on need, and then we have a smorgasbord of items that aren’t gelling together. Instead, you should write your vision and make it plain before you purchase that amazing sale item.

For instance, I created this beautiful little girls room by having a conversation with her and learning what she liked. I learned her favorite colors, her favorite things (unicorns by the way) what she actually needs in her room (more storage, a desk and some light) and the dimensions of her room. From there, I created a mood board to ensure everything came together and our ideas were fanciful yet realistic to work together. (The initial unicorn wallpaper idea was adorable, but potentially wouldn't last long. I proposed some gold dahlias instead lol). And voila, we have a gorgeous dream space of a bedroom that she adores.

Write out the dreams and needs of the room or home you’re updating. What do you need to function better? What do you realistically have room for? What styles are you drawn to and what items do you adore? Write the list out, make it plain and hire a designer to make the list come true!

Write down your vision for 2021, Family! I cannot predict the future, but I’m definitely praying and believing this year will have more wins than losses for you and yours.

“And the Lord answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it.”

Habakkuk 2:2 ESV

Happy New Year!

Make EVERY DAY this year Beautiful!
